The Hisotry of Roulette

Roulette is rumored to have been invented by the French scientist Blaise Pascal during one of his “monastic retreats” in around the mid 17th Century. The game was first played in a casino in Paris after the game was refined and brought to the European public.

The game of roulette was thought to have been created to relieve the boredom of the monastic life. This may have been the start of the game of roulette, but it didn’t take long before roulette took off around the world.

The game was introduced into Monaco shortly after it’s popularity in Paris to aid the ailing economy of the country. The people of Monaco took to the game immediately and the craze soon flowed around the world, and into America.

When roulette came to America it was changed slightly to include a double-zero as well as a standard single zero. Casinos did try to bring the European roulette game, with it’s single zero only, back into fashion, only to be hounded down by the roulette fans that demanded the double-zero be included back into the game.

Roulette has come a long way since it’s humble beginnings, and the appeal of the game keeps growing stronger every year with more people realizing the great odds on offer and the ability to place bets for fantastic returns.
